Travel With Me: London Part I
Not even a week after Coachella, my boyfriend Brian and I hopped on a flight to London. Despite the airline moving up the flight by SIX hours so that we had to take a last minute half day and scramble to pack, we were excited to go back to Europe!
Brian and I met when we both studied abroad in Prague together six years ago. It's our first European trip together since then, making it extra special! I've been back a few times in between (check out my Berlin trip here), but sans the boyfriend.
We're here in London for a total of two weeks, with a three night excursion to Marrakech! This will be a multi-part series travel diary (read Part II here!), and following our trip I'll plan to do some recaps and highlights for you! Let's get started!
Sunday April 22 | Wembley
For our first full day, we headed to the iconic Wembley Stadium to watch Chelsea beat Southampton 2-0 in the FA Cup. We had amazing center field seats, and the atmosphere was such an experience! Unlike the States, you can bet in the stadium, so Brian had a blast winning two bets!
Monday April 23 | Windsor
We took a day trip to Windsor Castle, about 30-45 minutes West of London, where we toured the castle grounds and the gorgeous state rooms. With less than a month to go until Prince Harry marries Meghan, it was fun to visit St. George's Chapel where the ceremony will be held. If only I could time travel to be a fly on that wall!
Following the tour we walked along the river and found an adorable lunch spot to enjoy rosé and French onion soup.
Tuesday April 24 | Soho
For our first 'London' day, we were able to walk around Soho to hit some of my favorite shops and restaurants that I was excited to see!
We took the tube to Oxford Street and made our way to the BBC Broadcasting House. Unfortunately they don't do tours anymore, so after admiring the outside, we headed to Liberty London, my absolute favorite department store. It's an eclectic, elevated version of Anthropologie, with multiple floors filled with designer wares, home decor and furniture.
Following, we had lunch at Dishoom, my favorite Indian restaurant in London. They don't take dinner reservations for groups less than 6, so it was actually great to go for lunch to avoid a wait.
Continuing our walk, we headed to Carnaby Street filled with trendy shops, including a great gift shop, We Built This City, which has prints and souvenirs made by local London designers.
We then went through Burlington Arcade to find Laduree for a quick coffee and macarons then continued onto Fortnum and Mason.
That night I enjoyed a gin + tonic and massive fish + chips at The Admiral Codrington in South Kensington that's near where we're staying.
