Seattle Style Summit
Anytime a group of like spirited individuals comes together, it's empowering. That's exactly how I felt after leaving Saturday's Seattle Style Summit put on by Gossip & Glamour. A room full of 100+ Seattle bloggers who were all there to learn, laugh, take photos and support each other. What a cool environment to be in as a new blogger!
I met blogger Allison Wagner of West Coast Aesthetic a few months back and she introduced me to Gossip & Glamour and this event. Excited to attend, I got my coworker Neha Sinha of Neha Beauty to come as well! We didn't quite know what to expect, but we arrived to the Thompson hotel in downtown Seattle ready to learn and meet new people!
The event itself was a three part speaking series followed by a cocktail hour at the Nest, the Thompson's rooftop bar. Luckily we had a beautiful sunny day, making it even more enjoyable to be donned in spring attire sipping drinks on a rooftop patio.
The first panel was The Art of Creative Collaborations which was all about how to engage with brands and set up strong partnerships. Having just started blogging in January, I learned a lot about how to logistically start reaching out for partnerships throughout various stages of blog growth. Some of the recommendations were unique ranging from event based engagement to pitching brands with styling recommendations they may not have thought of.
The second was Beyond the Blog: Launching a 2nd Concept. Again, being in the early stages of my blog, I can't imagine launching a second concept right now, but a lot of the advise was transferable to how to operate your own small business and think strategically about growing a concept.
Saturday's keynote speaker was Alan Gertner of Tokyo Smoke. He had an interesting journey of testing hypotheses about happiness and leading a meaningful life which led him to create a new retail concept. Each entrepreneur's story is unique, but deep down driven from a need, so it was interesting to hear his!
After all of the sessions, bloggers flooded to The Nest on the beautiful March day to network, take photos and get tips. I learned so much from the women I met and am looking forward to engaging more with this buzzing community of creatives!
I want to give a huge shout out to Gossip & Glamour for putting this event on, and I look forward to the other events in store!
