What to Make for Friendsgiving

Friendsgiving.JPG

My Mom always hosts Thanksgiving, when extended family comes over for a hearty meal filled with laughter, wine, and sometimes games. The day itself if always so fun and I typically take the Friday after Thanksgiving off for some R&R (and shopping, let's be real).

But my other favorite tradition of Thanksgiving is... Friendsgiving. I am so thankful for my friends, and spending just as wonderful of a meal with them makes this fall seaon truly special. Unlike my family holiday which is steeped in traditions, Friendsgiving is a time to explore and learn other families traditions and try out some of my friends' favorite dishes.

Friendsgiving has become such a popular tradition, so to help inspire you for your Friendsgiving, here is a roundup of some of the most delicious recipes to bring when you celebrate. They're from various blogs, so I've linked to them from both the image and the text below the image - all credits go to them!

Kale + Arugula Brussels Sprouts

by Goop

Two of my favorite veggies in one dish! You can't go wrong brining a salad, especially for those trying not to indulge too much!

Baked Pears with Gorgonzola + Honey

by Happy Kitchen. Rocks

Baked pears are delicious with cheese! I'm not a gorgonzola fan so would sub brie or another great baking cheese! These are easy to prep ahead of time!

Plum + Thyme Prosecco Smash

by My Diary of Us

No Friendsgiving is complete without cocktails! This bubbly mix is perfect during a cocktail hour with apps!

Mashed Cauliflower with Garlic + Herbs

from Downshiftology

Garlic mashed potatoes are amazing but can get really calorie heavy. Opt for a cauliflower mash substitute for a spin on this Thanksgiving classic.

Autumn Cheese Board

by Host the Toast

If there isn't a cheese board, is it really a party? Putting out a beautiful autumnal board is perfect for appetizers. Cheese and charcuterie can get expensive, so maybe divey up items for a few friends to bring.

Butternut Squash and Wild Mushroom Stuffing

by Half Baked Harvest

Stuffing is my absolute favorite item of Thanksgiving, so I always end up bringing it to Friendsgiving. This one looks amazing with rustic bread and mushrooms! Remember to tear your bread into large chunks for a great effect!

Bourbon + Spiked Pear Cocktail

by Holly & Flora

Another great cocktail to pair with any course of the meal! Most friends will likely bring food (duh), so offering to bring some custom cocktails will be a fun addition to the meal!

Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

by Gimme Some Oven

Slow cookers are the way to go for us baking-challenged folk. Apple crisp is a Fall staple, but can be sometimes forgotten at Thanksgiving time, making it the perfect surprise for Friendsgiving!
