The Mountains
Snow is something I always look forward to about the winter. Seattle winters are typically rainy, so being able to get away to the mountains to ski, lounge in a cabin, and hot tub is the ideal getaway (besides somewhere tropical).
This year, I took the week between Christmas and New Years off, so I was able to spend four nights at my boyfriend, Brian's family cabin at Snoqualmie Pass here. With extended family and friends popping in and out, it's the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. Snoqualmie Pass is about an hour East of Seattle, so it's an easy drive to feel like you're in a completely different place!
I've grown up visiting most mountains in Washington including Crystal, Baker, Mission Ridge and Stevens which are all great as well! Snoqualmie is at a lower elevation, so the snow isn't as good as other mountains, but nothing can beat the close proximity. I only started skiing in high school, so I'm definitely not an aggressive skier, but do enjoy going slow on my blue runs. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions about any of the other mountains around Washington! I'll likely do another post on the various winter and skiing trips I've been on outside of WA.
Brian and I will typically be up at the cabin every other weekend or so during the winter, so I'm looking forward to doing more skiing and tubing this year. As 2016 wraps up, I love spending time with family and friends to celebrate the great (though unique) year it's been and start planning new trips and adventures for 2017!
